- If
you represent a community civic group, church, business, etc. you may
want to learn more about the Tulsa Metro Chamber’s,
Partners in Education (PIE) program. “Partners in Education is a
collaborative effort between the Tulsa Metro Chamber and Tulsa Public
Schools. The program's focus is to link TPS students with community
resources in order to provide the knowledge and skills needed for
future success. Partners and schools choose their level of
involvement, which may include (but not limited to) volunteering
within the school, in-kind contributions or financial assistance. To

Do
I have
to complete the TPS Volunteer Program School
Volunteer Application, Volunteer Background Check, and Volunteer Guidelines & Acknowledgment forms?
Volunteer
Application (Aplicacion en Espanol)
Volunteer Background Check (Aplicacion de Revision de Antecedentes)
TPS Volunteer Guidelines & Acknowledgment
Yes!
This is a must both for the sake of our children’s safety and to
properly reflect volunteer hours/community involvement for Edison’s
district “Accountability Score”. You will need to review, sign and return the following; TPS Volunteer Application, TPS Volunteer Background Check, and TPS Acknowledgment Form. Keep the Guidelines for School Volunteers for your records. Volunteer
hours can only be counted for those who have completed the three above forms.
Due to form revision and legal constraints volunteers WILL
need to submit these new forms each year.

What is an “Accountability Score”? TPS
is working on the Baldridge Award
for the school year 2010-2011 through application for “The
Oklahoma Quality Achievement Award”
which was established by The
Oklahoma Quality Achievement Foundation. The award “process is a
cooperative industry, academic, government initiative to advance
organization performance excellence, improve competitiveness, and to
provide recognition of outstanding achievements.” A
number of “goals” go into a school’s achievement or
“accountability score”. One goal has to do with Parent/Guardian
and Community Support through measurement of the number of Partners
In Education
a school has and
the
number of site PTA participants (volunteer
hours).
Your PTSA Membership benefits your child and is important to Edison!
So,
if you (and your spouse) are already putting in the hours, be sure to
turn in your time so you and Edison get the credit and the benefit!
